Your privacy is important to us and it is an express aim of the company to ensure that any personal information we may be in possession of is adequately protected.
WHAT IS PERSONAL INFORMATION?
We define 'personal information' as information that can identify you such as your name, or other information from which your identity may be satisfactorily established, such as your home address.
In providing Real Estate services to you we may need to obtain and store this information. In doing so we undertake to never disclose, provide, sell or rent any such personal information to any other organisation for their marketing purposes.
We point out that Personal Information is different from Sensitive Information. Sensitive information is information about an individual's private preferences, such as race, religion or sexual preference. JOHNSTON DIXON Pty Ltd does not seek to collect this information, but advises that such information may be collected accidentally in our relationship with you.
This information does not affect how JOHNSTON DIXON Pty Ltd deals with clients and potential clients and has no relevance to sales or rental processes.
HOW MIGHT PERSONAL INFORMATION BE USED?
We collect personal information at our properties 'On Show' for a number of reasons:-
Security - As added security for our clients, we require a name and contact details be provided by people who inspect our properties wherein we reserve the right to ask for verification of identity (eg, a Driver's Licence).
Feedback - We will generally contact people who visit properties that we may have had On Show to ask their opinion of the home. This helps us to provide a better service, and market our properties more effectively.
Marketing - We may contact potential purchasers to discuss the property they viewed, or other properties that we believe may be of interest to them. We may contact potential sellers with information about our company and the services we offer. This may be done by telephone, e-mail, text messaging, or through the post.
General - We will usually request personal information from clients or potential clients. This information will be used in different ways, depending on the purpose for which it is collected.
Many services provided by JOHNSTON DIXON Pty Ltd require the collection of at least some personal information which may be used in turn for example to research a property or obtain a title search.
We may also from time to time use the information for direct marketing purposes and to seek potential clients through promotional activities. This may be in the form of letters, brochures, or informational booklets such as our Real Estate Reports. In providing your information you agree to this use, although you may ask to be removed at any time.
JOHNSTON DIXON Quality Property Management requires additional personal information, and uses it for additional reasons. Such additional information is all in relation to fulfilling their legal and professional obligations.
WHO DO YOU GIVE MY INFORMATION TO?
Generally, JOHNSTON DIXON will not share your personal information with any third party (including other real estate organisations).
Whilst that may be the case, from time to time it is necessary to share some information with our support organisations in order to provide a requested service, particularly the marketing of a property or of providing property management services. Failure to provide us with the required personal information may result in us being unable to provide such a service to you.
Such organisations may include but are not limited to: accountants, auditors, banks, Body Corporates, government agencies, insurers, the media, advertisers, mortgage providers, other real estate agents, pest and building inspectors, potential purchasers, property owners, the REIQ, service providers, tradespeople, solicitors, and tenancy databases.
Personal information is only provided to those organisations when it is necessary to enable us to provide our schedule of services or to comply with our legal obligations.
We will not give, sell or rent your email address or other personal information to any other party.
YOUR RIGHTS
In accordance with the Privacy Act (1988) and Amendments, you have the right to request a copy of all information we have about you. You can also request information on what companies your information has been provided to, and for what purpose that was done. Please note that requests for your personal information can only be made by you.
We seek to ensure all information we have is accurate and up to date. If you discover that any information we have is incorrect, please ask us to amend the information accordingly.
If you are receiving information from us and you wish to discontinue that service, please advise us.
